Be the Game

Yesterday was the end of an era for me. It was my last day at a job that I loved. Honestly, I never had a hard time leaving a job before. Usually I chuck the deuces and shout “peace out” after I set my desk on fire and leave an upper decker in the women’s room. So it’s been an odd experience saying goodbye to something I had become so proud of and comfortable with. I’m super excited for this new road I’m about to turn down but it’s been bittersweet, to say the least, this last week to reflect on everything that’s brought me up to this moment.

I’ve started realizing life is not a set time-line with markers along the way highlighting milestones. Life is an open map and you find your way through it. Sometimes clearing through brush, other times walking across open plains. Marking good points, bad spots, and all the paths in between. You are the Magellan of your path in life. Ask directions when you need, don’t ever be afraid to do that. But don’t worry about veering off the path or going down that trite “road less traveled”. There are endless less traveled roads, go down as many as you can. Don’t fear the unknown. Being timid is for the weak. Find your strengths, own them, and blaze on through. Don’t be the player, be the game.
